So this is a very strange error, I tried to do something about it yesterday and couldn't fix it.

Description:

Up until now I played mostly gamecube games, which work completely fine. Now I tried New Super Mario Bros Wii, it works fine at first. However after exiting emulation and loading it maybe a third time, it shows a black screen and complete freeze of the app, so I had to close it on system level, and even opening it again showed a white screen but not menu. After closing it again now Dolphin worked fine, however loading the game inmediately gave the same result. Gamecube games still work fine every single time. After testing everything I could think of, they only thing that apparently makes the game work again is not using Dolphin for quite some time, maybe a few hours, I haven't tested it throughly. Once it works again, the games works normally and at proper speed, and you can keep gaming normally, but if you close the game, if lucky it works a second time, but most of the time I get a full black screen freeze on the third time, really weird.

Things I've tried:

- Every single config option I could think of, vulkan/opengl , every enhancement/hack turned on/off, etc.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling Dolphin.
- Deleting the game file in the cache folder iirc.
- Testing uncompressed game.

Tested on:

- LG G8X (Snapdragon 855)
- Tested on Dolphin 5.0-14751
Are you using NKit format? If yes, then use ISO format.

And, if you are still getting black screen on ISO format, then it could be a bad dump. Verify integrity of the game and then post the results here.
I have tried various versions of the game, full ISO included. It's not something specific to New Super Mario Bros Wii though, once the black screen freeze starts to happen, not a single Wii game works of all the games I have installed, about 10-15 approximately, they all launch to a black screen and freeze, and I have to force closing the emulator since it's completely locked up.

Forgot to add that I have close to 10gb of free space in both sd card and phone space, so not related to that.

There is no verify on Android.
Sorry, I didn’t know about that.
Well what I can confirm is that the game and any other wii game works fine after more less 1 hour since I last used the emulator since i've tried a few times during the day, so at least there's a way to use it, for whatever reason using it again in less time than that has a real chance of black screen freeze, really weird, but well at least it's usable.
I'm getting the same Black screen crash on nkit wii games. It's a black screen freeze that nearly crashes my phone. It takes a couple minutes to even gain access again. Only uncompressed isos work. My phone is an s9 on Android 8 and tried a full reinstall of dolphin. They used to work fine but unfortunately I couldn't tell you when it broke since I just updated and tried this emu out again after about a year. Just let me know if this will ever be fixed because it's going to be a huge task uncompressing all my game's back to iso.
We provide no support for NKit files. Using non-NKit disc images is strongly recommended, and any NKit-specific problems will likely not be fixed.

Though, it is strange that NKit files could cause a problem that serious...

Thanks JosJuice. They're only being used to save disk space especially on a phone. I have a giant SD card at 400gb so not such a big deal for me. I'll just re iso them whenever I get around to it and just cross my fingers and try the nkit first lol
