but that's besides the point.
Well , for some reason the 4.2 update is categorized as "Homebrew killer" , but you are still able to use homebrew ( I could explain it , but I am too lazy , just check wiibrew.org )
copy/ vasta from wiibrew
Changes
* Deletes the Homebrew Channel and DVDX.
* Now uses IOS70.
* Wii Shop Channel updated. Use WiiSCU or Wii Shop and IOS61 installer to update the shop channel.
* Most of the IOS's have been updated or stubbed.
* Updates your boot2 to boot2v4, overwriting BootMii/boot2.
* Checks for region converted Korean Wii (checks for korean common key inside EEPROM?) if so then brick with a 003 Error.
* Improved region checking for discs and titles, the system menu now checks the Title ID from the TMD.
What to do
* As far as we know, System Menu 4.2 adds no new functionality. No games, homebrew or official, require System Menu 4.2 to be installed.
* The Wii Shop Channel was updated also, so the older version doesn't work anymore. This includes the free downloads and checking the operations guide on your WiiWare games.
* If you need to update for the above reason, sit tight for instructions. See below - the 4.2 update may even brick a completely unmodded Wii.
* If you have already updated, use Smash Stack, Indiana Pwns or the new version of Bannerbomb to run version 0.6 of the HackMii installer.
Affected Effect Workaround
Bannerbomb v1 Doesn't work. Bannerbomb v2, Smash Stack, or Indiana Pwns
BootMii BootMii will be overwritten by boot2v4. Use HackMii installer v0.6 to (re)install.
cIOS cIOS locations, primarily the ones used by pirates, are replaced by stubs. Don't pirate.
DVDX Removed by the System Menu upon bootup. Use HackMii installer v0.6 to (re)install. DVDX 2.0 will not be removed by the 4.2 update.
Homebrew Channel Removed by the System Menu upon bootup. Use HackMii installer v0.6 to (re)install. HBC 1.0.6 will not be removed by the 4.2 update.
Preloader 0.29 Uninstalled due to a new System Menu. Since 4.2 uses IOS70, Preloader 0.29 will not work properly. Use a third party mod of Preloader 0.30, or patch ES_Identify into IOS70.
Gecko OS 1.9.2 Blank screen after loading. Since 4.2 installs a stub IOS249, Gecko OS 1.9.2 will crash when loading it. Use Gecko OS 1.9.3.
According to bushing, "The [boot 2 update] code [from Ninty] is so buggy that we decided to write our own for the HackMii installer." There are some people who are bricking their Wii as a result of doing a standard update, whether or not they had hacks before they updated. It is therefore highly recommended that you do not upgrade until the ability to install BootMii plus boot2v4 in one go comes to the HackMii Installer.
Also if you have a region-converted Korean Wii (for example Korean to US), this update will brick your Wii and return "Error 003" on the screen. Updating the Wii Shop Channel with WiiSCU or Wii Shop and IOS61 installer should not be a problem on a Korean Wii.
