Hello. When I try and close the program it freezes and I have to use Force Quit (or disconnect the controller). Duration of using Dolphin doesn't seem to be a factor as it will freeze either right after opening it or playing games for a while. This has happened a few times now and at least once when I upgraded to a new version that seemed to solve the issue. It started up again today so I got version 5.0-11526 for MacOS. I opened the program, immediately tried to close it and sure enough it still freezes.

That's been my only issue with the program so far. Otherwise, it plays the games great! Is there a solution to this crashing problem? My apologies if this has come up before. I didn't see any recent posts about it.

Below are the specs for my Mac Mini, although really that shouldn't be a factor as it has no problem running the games.

Thanks!

2018
3.2GHz 6‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 4.6GHz)
16GB 2666MHz DDR4
Intel UHD Graphics 630
2TB SSD storage
I'm guessing most people are using the PC version, not Mac. Still, I hoped out of nearly 2000 views at least 1 person might have an answer.

I'll just keep updating the program as new versions become available (which appears to be almost daily) and maybe the problem will resolve itself. It's not like it affects my ability to play games.

Thanks anyways!
I'm replying so I remember to check if I can reproduce this later tonight or tomorrow

Thank you! I just downloaded version 5.0-11537 this morning and it still freezes when I try to close the program.

And I also meant to clarify that sometimes (not always) when I disconnect a controller that will prompt the program to crash.

None of this affects my ability to play any games. It's just weird that it happens.
Unfortunately I can't reproduce this issue. I'm running macOS 10.3.6, not 10.14, so maybe it's a problem on that macOS version or your specific computer. Maybe somebody else with a Mac on 10.14 can check to see if they can reproduce.

When it hangs and you force quit, do you get a crash report window popup the next time you start Dolphin?
Nothing pops up when I reopen the program. It's as if nothing even happened.

The OS I'm currently using is Catalina, 10.15.2.
Ah, you might want to update your profile then.

Does the crash happen to all versions of Dolphin? Or is there an older version of Dolphin that doesn't crash? If so, can you bisect the builds and find out which build of Dolphin it started in?

Ah I totally forgot about my profile info, thanks for the reminder. It's updated now.

So I don't recall what initial version it was that I downloaded to the new computer this year but I'm pretty sure the crash happened from the very start. And I do know it's happened across multiple versions because I've updated a few times to hopefully fix the crash. I see that several new versions have been released since I last updated so I'll get the latest version and see how that goes.

Oddly enough, at least once it seemed to have been fixed (I don't recall which version) but then it would start up again. I don't change the settings or anything. I just connect start and play. I'm leaning toward what you said about the OS version being part of the cause. Although I just assumed whenever a Mac version is released it's based off the latest OS.
The problem stems from the fact that there aren't many Dolphin devs that use macOS, so there are times when bugs like these can go unnoticed for a long time.

Here's something to try: lets see if the logs have anything to say about this. Open Dolphin, and in the top bar, go to View. Turn on Show Log Configuration, and in the side bar that appears, change Verbosity to Info, make sure that Logger Outputs has Write to File checked, and Toggle All Log Types has everything checked. Then, do what you do to make Dolphin crash, and force quit. Then go to the Global Directory and check in the Log file for the new log that was created. At the end, there should be some info as to where/why it crashed.

EDIT: the macOS global directory is: /Users/<your username here>/Library/Application Support/Dolphin/Logs
I feel like I opened The Matrix, lol. I don't see anything mentioned about the force quit or the program crashing :/
