I just found this thread, and this is really interesting ! i'll be watching this closely.

From what i've read, OpenXR isn't compatible with every headsets or something, is the oculus quest (through oculus link) supported ? if so, then i would be glad to help testing if needed.

Oculus Quest via Link should be supported.

At this point, SteamVR, Windows MR, and Oculus all support OpenXR. Windows MR however did not support using OpenGL with OpenXR (I don't know if this is still the case).

Windows MR was the first available OpenXR implementation, followed by Oculus and most recently SteamVR, so that might be why old articles said that OpenXR isn't available for every headset.

So, a stopgap solution I found for being able to play dolphin games in 3D in vr is using a software like bigscreen to stream my desktop to my headset and interpret Side By Side 3D. Of course an actual implementation of even just 3D by dolphin would be better and also allow you to do things like use your controllers as the Wiimote with high precision.

Still though this is a decent measure while waiting the years it'll take before vr implementation is actually in dolphin ?

Yeah, that's what we are working on for DorsalVR. The idea is to have a near indiscernible experience to "native" VR. You have an option to play on the big screen but you can also play in 'immersive' mode which leverages Free Look to look around in stereo 3d using the headset, while using the controllers as Wiimote / nunchuck. I'm working on the Dolphin changes while another user is working on the DorsalVR application. Dolphin-wise, most of the pieces are coded, just waiting on reviews to be merged.

Hello again, i've tried a few things with visual studio and managed to build lordvulkan's openxr branch, but i have no idea how to actually make it run in vr, is this not implemented yet ? dreimer's message made it seem like it worked somewhat, but when i start emulation it doesn't do anything with the headset. or did i screw up the building process ? (edit: I am using DX11)
And you are 100% sure it's the openxr branch, like it's written down right in MSVC? Was my first mistake ^^ It loaded master first... Otherwise not much to do. Try DX11 in GFX plugin and be aware that just one eye shows stuff.

Hi everyone,

I'm intently following this branch of the project. I have had trouble building this one in Visual studio as its all fairly new to me but am very excited for a more concrete release.

Any news on when we may see something more user friendly drop?
