Yes. What you need to do is to plug in the receiver into a GameCube controller adapter, just like you would plug in a wired controller.

Keep in mind the Wavebird is known to miss inputs when plugged into anything other than a GameCube/Wii or the official GameCube Adapter for Wii U. Yes, even the Mayflash adapter experiences the issue.
