Is there any setting that will remove the fire effect from dragon roost island, even at the expense of crippling performance or making the game otherwise ugly?

I'll play the game in wire frame Tongue

just something to get rid of those damn black blocks

Win7 64bit, 3.0ghz i7, 295gtx. What settings will remove the blocks?
