Probably just need to make the box around it transparent by default.

Calling the new one ugly is kind of shortsighted though - it's a whole new infrastructure that allows us to do all kinds of interesting things.

I like the new counter and that was a thread jacking anyways. OP; new version is confirmed to be slower.
