Given the symptoms, your optical drive probably isn't compatible at all and you have to find another way to dump your ISOs (a used Wii probably being the cheapest)...

Maybe I’m not using Friidump correctly, I am confused in the instructions it says:

Installation
===============================================================================
If you are a Windows user, probably you will have downloaded the binaries,
either zipped or together with an installer, so the installation should be
straightforward.

If you downloaded the sources, you will need to compile them. FriiDump uses
CMake, for easy portability, so you will need to get it from cmake.org. On
Windows you will also need a compiler like Visual Studio (the only tested one,
so far) or CygWin/MinGW. On UNIX just do the following, from the directory
where you unpacked the sources into:

https://github.com/bradenmcd/friidump

Need help here cause I skipped the cmake and compilation part, this stuff is too confusing. I just dumped my GameCube games regardless as I downloaded Friidump on filetrip.net cause the compilation process on the github Version was way too confusing. Sooo is it my ASUS drives fault or maybe is it the Friidump version I downloaded from this site below?

If your drive is not compatible, buy a used wii with a working drive and use that to dump your games. That's the best way to do it.
Yeah, a used Wii runs anywhere from $20-40 on Ebay in the USA right now, and that is super easy to install homebrew and dump games.
Plus you can resell the Wii at the end, so it should be roughly cash-neutral.
Thanks guys for the advice, I decided to go with a Wii but not just an ordinary one, I’ve been waiting a while for this but now have finally bought the 25th anniversary Wii bundle. This is a good excuse to finally get my hands on one.

Only thing I’m worrying about is that it’s a PAL and I have never owned a Wii so I’m not sure what other things to get like accessories. Example I do know I need an HDMI converter since my Monitor is HDMI. Also heard on the 39th Nintendo is forever taking down their online service. So for the hombrew issue, I don’t think I can use much SD cards since I can’t get Wii menu 4, or whatever is required to use bigger SD cards. Another issue is my GameCube games are NTSC-U, not PAL so not sure how I’d dump the ISO’s onto my pc.

Also may I ask what to do when Dolphin keeps crashing? Any settings to adjust, I don’t want Dolphin to crash when making progress on Luigi’s Mansion.
Online services for probably all games already ended long ago (right now I can recall only Just Dance 2018 still working online but only because it's hosted entirely on Ubisoft's servers). The Wii Shop still is accessible but it'll be closed soon too. Regardless, that shutdown shouldn't affect online system updates which should still work in the foresee future, and even the day Nintendo ends all Wii related servers for good, you can still update the system to 4.3 (the last version released) through the update partition found in the disc of many Wii games released from 2011 and onwards...

The region of the console doesn't matter when dumping games. I've dumped all my PAL discs and one NTSC-K disc on an NTSC-U Wii without any problems.

Did you have to homebrew it first though?

Yes, that is necessary.
Note that every Wii with the exception of the Wii Mini, regardless of firmware version, can be homebrewed using software for free. Use the Letterbomb exploit. All you need is an SD card.

then you can dump your games using this
