I played mario galaxy 2 for a few weeks, but today when I opened dolphin, it mention something about sending data to developers, which is weird because I thought it only happens the first time you open dolphin. When I opened mario galaxy 2's rom, my save file was not loaded. I looked through my files, but can't find the save file to load into dolphin so I can play it from where
I left off. Also my savestates are gone as well.

So, what happened? Is my save file gone forever?
So on Windows, Dolphin's global user directory (where save files and settings and such are) is saved in [username]\My Documents\Dolphin Emulator. Did someone delete those files?
The savefiles should be in

(for PAL: ) Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Wii\title\00010000\53423450
(for NTSC-US: ) Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Wii\title\00010000\53423445

Maybe you can restore those files with a software like Recuva. You must not copy anything to your C: drive until you tried to restore the files, to increase your chances that the files are not overwritten. This includes software that you want to use to restore the data. Use another drive for this, or a thumb drive.
I looked. The folder is there (the ntcs us: 534...) but nothing except data and content are in it. I looked in those folders, and the only thing I found was a title.tmd.

Also, my savestates also are gone.
I am guessing dolphin re-added the folders, replacing the content the dolphin emulator folder? Is that possible?
It is very unlikely for someone to delete those file on their own, for I am pretty much the only one who used this computer.
The dolphin exe is on a flashdrive, if that means anything.

There was another folder in Dolphin Emulator\Wii\title\00010000\ which was 524d4745 and it had a file named banner and gamedata.
I tried importing the files into dolphin, but an import error popped up.

I don't know what other info I can give.
what is Recuva?

That is the save file for Super Mario Galaxy 1.
Ah. But I didn't lose that. In fact that save was made after the smg2 one disapeared.
But I can't find any trace of any savestates or the save file I had before.
(Is there a save file maker somewhere i don't know about that might help?)
But the question i had still remains unanswered: Is it possible for dolphin to think that the dolphin emulation folder doesn't exist, therefore replacing the folder and everything in it?

Dolphin won't automatically delete save files. All it does if the Dolphin Emulator folder seems to be missing is re-create folders that should exist but don't exist.
hmm. I am trying to see if I moved the folder to a different loaction on accident (for I use touchpad)
I found them! Yay. Sorry for wasting your time.
Now that I found them, I just move the savestates and save files over to the current folder, right?

Yeah, that should work.
