I have a pc with a q6600 (stock speed), Ati 4870 hd (1 gig) and 4 gig of ram, windows XP and Dolphin_Win32_r4525. New super Mario WII(the title screen anyways with Mario and CO running) runs at about 30fps.

I was intending to buy a Wii just for mario but would rather spend the money on upgrading my PC (then i could emu mario and have a better PC).

What would you suggest I upgrade? new processor, graphics card? or just over clock the current CPU.

I wouldnt want to run the game at 1080p maybe 720p or even lower with lots of AA as long as the game looks sharp and smooth (and better than a normal Wii would look on my HD TV) I wouldnt mind.

Thanks for your time.
Get a proper fan (certainly a Noctua one ) and Oc this old q6600 beast ^^ (it s gonna be already a big difference @ anything more than 3Ghz)

Good Luck ^^

Oehr

get a newer revision(eg r4635). they improved a lot in just a short time. though i dont know if nunchuck is still broken...

overclock to 3.0GHz. should run stable without increasing vcore. if you want 3.2+GHz, make sure to get a good cooler(eg MasterCooler Hyper TX3). I got 3.5GHz with a vcore of 1.47V.
rest is more than enough for running games in fullhd resolution.

P.S. AA 8x is more than enough. 16x just rapes your pc without any visible gain in quality!
noctua make great quiet coolers. as far as oc goes what mobo you got?
what multiplier does the cpu have?
i have a p43 chipset on my board, and a multiplier of 8.5 on my q9550, the p43s struggle past a fsb of 412 i can get 410 stable(no matter what vcore or mem voltage i set). the p45 boards clock a hell of alot better, with good cooling 420+ fsb should be easy.
dont know if your a noob to ocing but make sure you set your pcie to 100 before you start. i can push my fsb well past the 412 wall with it set to auto but it'll shaft my sata drives and gfx card up if i do.

i'd never mention this again if i were you, the pirate police will be after you
he said nothing worng, as long as you own the game there are other ways of ripping it to your computer. I don't oown a wii but i have an lg drive
i wasn't having a go, i dont want to sound like a twat, i've been on other forums and they act like nazi's over stuff like this.

the LG drives are a way of doing it your right(for gamecube as well i believe), they sell for about £40 now as well.
but we still don't support piracy and we will act like nazi's over that
Thanks for the responses guys,

to clarify I bought a black wii from game the other day (£180 with wii sports wii sports resort, new super mario wii and smash brothers).

After reading up on the emus i decided maybe i should sell the console and keep the software. I thought it was easier to write it the way i did.

If i go the emu route I will be bying software and maybe keeping the wii (for the living room).

ANyway bin eyeing up this cooler for a while now

I wish I had seen that one earlier, ended up buying the one I mentioned. Do you think its good enough to get me above 3gig not going to try for anything like 3.6 that you have as this is my first time oc'ing a cpu so im not that confident about it to be honest.
