Can some of you please advise me whether to buy the Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate operating systems for my new computer
? Price is no object.

Are the differences between them significant?

What are their advantages and limitations?

just buy home premium, the other stuff has things that u'll never use. to find out what they are... here's a link to a very helpful site that has help me find the answer to many things in the past with out recurring to asking strangers in a forum GOOGLE

i use ultimate and it's good if your doing enturprise related tasks but for the normal user... professional or ultimate

Decide for yourself based on what features you want. If you don't know what a certain feature listed is just google it.

Well you'll have to switch to retail by march 10th (thats for rc, I think for beta it's even earlier) since your key will cease to work after that (actually I didn't get the beta I went straight to rc, so does the beta even have a key?).

Its true But for the RC not for beta. Im not sure about beta, You should have upgraded to RC

I think the "starter edition" doesn't even exist anymore... and all any normal user really needs is home premium, at most professional. Buying windows 7 ultimate just for bit locker is a little... wasteful. but that's what i did so who im i to judge. The price difference between pro and ulti is that of what you would pay for a similar drive encryption software.

Buy ultimate if you have deep dark secrets to encrypt...

Plus you need your computer to have this to use bit locker
