Greetings everyone, I have a question in regards to emulation in general on android devices.
If I use my phone daily and rely on it heavily, is it worth emulating gamecube games like Pokemon Colosseum or Double Dash? Will I see any long-term issues on battery life/phone durability if I start using Dolphin? I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.
I love to use dolphin on my computer, but unfortunately, I'm not always near my desktop and am on the airplane going to work. I do hope someday gamecube emulation gets to be a reality on the Switch, but I understand it is a very hard thing to ask for. Still, I'd prefer to do gaming and emulation on my Switch in the future, and keep my phone usages primarily for work-related tasks.
Thanks,

Supposedly double dash works fine on more recent phones. So does Melee, Animal Crossing, and other various lightweight games.
But for the most part the answer is no. Lots of aggressive thermal throttling on a lot of phones. Lots of buggy GPU drivers on a lot of GPUs. There is nobody really working on Android to work around these issues and we get a java developer on a rare occasion to pop in and solve a few of the terrible UX issues with the actual UI part of Dolphin for Android.
Right now Dolphin on Android is mostly unmaintained. People who have issues never really get it solved or bugs fixed.
Almost all Gamecube Games run so Well with Snapdragon 835.
You have to know that Dolphin Emulator takes some of the battery power thought (just as much as an Android game).
Any Flagship from 2018 And 2017 will run gamecube games well.
How ever buy the one with the most battery power from 3200-3500 Mah Battery.

No. Some do, but not almost all.
I mean, you're free to put time and effort into seeing if this works for you, but just know that you won't really get much help when it doesn't. We "support" Android mostly because it compiles still.
Speed is one concern, seocond one is usufulness of onscreen controls an no joypad controller until you buy one and setup.
I think you just have to try it. IMO it is impressiv for a phone. But it is disappointing if you expect it to run like on your desktop.
You don't have to worry about it ruining your device. Like any other demanding game at most your device will get warm but it has thermal constraints in place that will lower your performance rather than let the heat damage your device.
But as others said, performance isn't great. Some games may be playable but other games either have bugs or more commonly the performance is too low for it to be at playable speeds.
By well I mean you may get 40-60 FPS but the sound will have issues and also it will need diffrent combination of setting to be fast without almost any sound issues.
Also it might not be battery friendly.

Everybody has too keep in mind that changing the settings SIEVN is talking about will "damage" your game in one way or another: Hard Freezes, Softlocks, Graphical glitches, gameplay glitches or a combination of one of more of these will not make it an enjoyable experience for most people.
If you want to enjoy Dolphin gaming on the go, I advice you to you really consider getting a decent (gaming) laptop in the 600-800 price range instead(or the GPD-Win2 which seems to run a lot of emulated games very well as well)
