This slow issue is also happening on the s8 plus...
Try build 5.01859 (could be 5.01589) even though it's older everything runs far far better on my xz2 which is a sd845

It runs faster on some games, because it has broken effects. Please don't suggest random versions. Please specify exactly which commit made it slower and that they shall use a version without this commit. So they have a chance to interpretate *why* this version has a different behavior.

Anyways, the reason your device randomly slows down is because of the device thermal profile for keeping the SoC within safe/comfortable temps. There may be ways around this but none of these ways are remotely safe for your device and aren't worth discussing here at risk of random users burning themselves, causing damage to their devices, or screwing up their OS.

Go to XDA if you want to be reckless with thermal throttle removal. Wink
