My 5 year old laptop with a i7 4800MQ, 16GB of ram and a GTX870 6GB runs basically every game without any issue (Except the StarWars games).

What is the make of this particular laptop if you don't mind me asking and are they still available on the market from the manufacturer? Thanks.

Dell Inspiron 7700HQ GTX 1050 15.6" - one of the least expensive choices with this level of performance

Here are 2 options these levels of specs should generally handle dolphin well at 1080p though there are lots of other choices depending what you like in size weight and other factors.

The Inspiron is definitely of interest to me, mainly because it doesn't look like a typical gaming laptop when you're using it in public. But I have heard there are issues with display and I suppose if I want the best experience I would need to connect it to an external monitor?
The display is better then the original version had. You are always going to make some sacrifices if you want to save money if you want a better display then there are others that cost more money, but have better displays.

Dell has also updated their lineup with the same styling just newer processors

The Asus ROG Strix GL502 has a nicer display but more of a gamer look

The gigabyte aero has an amazing screen but the price to go with it

Basically you have 3 things in laptops to chose from size, performance, and price.... now pick only 2. If you want all the nice things in one small package price will be the thing that has to go.
