I created a save state of my last netplay session, loaded it up in non-netplay to save it and it refuses to do so
Although, i've gotten netplay saving to work now, how do I get this savestate to save as a wii save for use in netplay?

Not 100% sure but IIRC savestates are not supported in netplay.

You can't load them in netplay, but you can save them in netplay.
