Do you think this slight, what seems to resemble a small crack may be messing it up? Picture will be in the link.

That can absolutely mess up detection of the IR lights, it looks like the crack goes all the way through to the other (bottom) of the plastic window... Did you also try to see what the sensitivity test in the emulated Wii menu does/sees?
I've just setup my account just to create similar post. Recently bought a new Wiimote and ordered Dolphinbar because i very miss my Wii that i've sold many years ago. And idea of experience same old games but in 1080p was putting me in a great mood. So everything seems fine at first, but loading up some games (I started with SH:SM too) showed that i need to be at least 1.5-2 meters away from bar. And connection with pointer breaks like hell, if you move slowly and on a big distance it's playable, but sudden movement and it breaks, so frustrating in games where you need to contol game camera with IR camera (Ju-On, SH. etc.) Tried every combination: Dolphinbar is at top, bottom very high and very low. Even hooked up my PC to a HDTV.. same problem, so diagonal of a screen isn't a problem. Tried "sensorbar sensitivity" setting in menu at all variations same stuff. All 10 lights are visible with phone camera (except those on sides is only clearly seen from an angle). Watched every video on YouTube, yes even that you picked as an example of a bar working in not big distances. Pretty much desperate right now. Only thing i didn't tried is to tape off Dolphinbar's LEDs and put up two candles and see how it goes. Sorry for not helping just wondering if you resolved this problem, or have some progress. Just wanna sit at normal distance and play a game without cursor disappearing if i sneezed... so FRUSTRATING.
I bought a dolphinbar about 5 days ago for very similar reasons to you, plus motivated by my young daughters loving the Wii at a recent holiday place we were at.
I had the same problems, and found that when I reverted back to a standard IR bar that I'd hardwired to usb power years ago and a separate Bluetooth dongle, Bluetooth passthrough enabled, everything started working. I now have a separate issue with recent 3rd party wiimotes, but I'm sending the Dolphinbar back as despite the promise, it didn't follow through for me. I'm also running Linux which doesn't help. Shame as an all in one, plug and play for dolphinemu was a very nice sell.
