What do you mean? We got these bruises from falling down the stairs. Tongue
Samsung seems to update their GL driver on major Android updates. AFAIK the S7 model recieved EXT_buffer_storage support a week ago. Bad luck, both the S8 and the S9 got the Android O update earlier, so they have been shipped with the older driver without EXT_buffer_storage support. Maybe we're lucky and we'll get it with the Android P update ....

FYI: https://community.arm.com/graphics/f/discussions/9902/will-there-be-ext_buffer_storage-support-at-all

By the way, I'm still waiting for a coherent vs explicit_flush test on ARM. So if anyone with buffer_storage on Mali wants to help here, I need your help.
Nice to know! I believe new drivers will come with android 8.1 or P.

Optimistic or not Adreno has almost all the features dolphin needs (530/540/630), just geometryshader to be implemented and 32-bit depth buffer bug to be fixed. It's nice to see ARM follows. This days OEM major OS update almost guarantee drivers updates and with Google it's 100%
Some day they would need to make the drivers better. Game developers are getting interest in mobile market, if only Adreno devices have decent drivers, then the game companies will make partner with Qualcomm, people will only buy Qualcomm devices. It would be like when we had Tegra-optimized (with extra graphic features) and Tegra-exclusive games in the past.
Is it time to make a compatibility list for android? It seems some games like Paper Mario are "unplayable" while the bulk of games only have at most minor graphical issues or low FPS.
The state of Android is going to rapidly improve with all that Google has been doing lately.

No, not until most devices have the correct drivers.

Maybe you could make a Device compatibility list, as in: Which device has the latest drivers installed if their Android is up to date
So people can choose a device that is at least fully compatible with what Dolphin asks, hopefully that will also stop the threads about Will device XXX work. Then we can say > See the device compatibility list, if it is not on there, then we do not know, please update your device to the latest firmware available, test it and report back to us so we can update the list.
A warning can be added in the emulator telling the device doesn't meet the requirements and won't have official support, this avoids alot of troubles.
we already do this.
