Full Version: Mario Galaxy arrives at NVIDIA SHIELD TEGRA X1 ANDROID TV

It is a shame to see the developers behind DOLHPIN EMULATOR in so many, but so many years with daily updates have not been able to run the majority of games not only gamecube but also Wii while NVIDIA and NINTENDO show that in ANDROID can be emulated the most demanding games of both platforms (Wii & GCN)

In December, ZELDA TWILIGHT PRINCESS was launched in TEGRA X1 for SHIELD TV and now SUPER MARIO GALAXY arrives, each game the most demanding in each platform and to close with a flourish they do it at 1080P
It's time to ask: What do the developers of DOLPHIN do day by day?

With so many DAILY updates and so many years and having NVIDIA TEGRA X1 since 2015 I think they had to advance as they should, today with all those useless updates have only DAMAGED the compatibility with many games, games that previously served very well now just NO DO THEY WORK:
* Project Zero 4 (Wii)
* Eternal Darkness (GCN)
* 1080 ° Snowboarding White Storm (GCN)
* Super Monkey Ball (GCN)
* Resident Evil Remake (GCN)
* Star Fox Adventures (GCN)

It's time to ask: What do the developers of DOLPHIN do day by day?

With so many DAILY updates and so many years and having NVIDIA TEGRA X1 since 2015 I think they had to advance as they should, today with all those useless updates have only DAMAGED the compatibility with many games, games that previously served very well now just NO DO THEY WORK:

What do you really think who would win?

The developer of the hardware (nVidia) and the developer of the original game and hardware (Nintendo) working together to work around all problems in drivers. nVidia knows how to work around all the quirks in their drivers (and for Dolphin the Shield TV devices are recommended anyway) and the developer of the game and hardware (they probably still have the source code lying around and they know exactly what a Wii and GC can do) making a native (it is not emulated) version of the game run on a single device.

We had no clue but we learned everything from scratch and made almost every game made for Wii and GC run on almost every platform but we refuse to workaround the Android problems because the drivers are really really bad and they should be fixed by the manufacturers of said SoC's first.

Same as:

I am a car manufacturer (Nintendo), I designed everything and send it to a factory (nVidia) to have it assembled, here are the blueprints.

I have a bunch of parts which I know make a car, but I do not have any manuals or blueprints on how to build it. I start building it and it looks and runs like a car but the windscreen wipers aren't working, so I have to find out what is causing it not to work, while I poke around I find 10 other things that I think could work better and fix those, I also add some extra features like seat heating and a wing... So I have a car, it works and looks like a car, it does even more than the car it was based on but every now and then for whatever reason I can not drive 60MPH on the freeway... So I have to go and fix that, so now I can drive on the freeway with 60MPH but in the cities it takes 15 seconds to go from 0-15mph... So that needs to be fixed, I fixed that and now my rear lights don't work anymore.... and so on...

We mostly do things that aren't related to Dolphin, actually. Nintendo employs people who work on this as their day job, and we don't.

Only? Try running a game like Red Steel or Cars 2 in an old version of Dolphin and see how well it works.

Please bisect to find when those games broke. It will help a lot with fixing any problems there are.

They do seem to be emulated rather than native. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they use some per-game trickery to e.g. not make Super Mario Galaxy as reliant on having the emulated CPU access the EFB as it originally was...
Already on forums it has been said and I think it was confirmed by NVIDIA that these Wii and GCN games on NVIDIA SHIELD TV in CHINA are EMULATED at 1080P

The games that have stopped working in full all are from 5.0-66xx (all series 66xx)

That´s not bisecting. That´s guessing. When you bisect you look for the exact build that broke each game.
Mario Galaxy is running more or less correctly in the latest development builds. Not entirely full speed, but when you don't have access to the game source code and aren't paying devs ludicrous amounts of money, I don't know what you could expect.

If I detail each version that broke the games that I mentioned would be a fairly long list, it is a sequence since it is the whole 5.0-6xx series because it seems ironic that since they implemented the CHANGE OF DISC function the game RESIDENT EVIL REMAKE does not work, I have test videos where the games that I mentioned and their version of the emulator worked, but every day I install and test the new versions and there is no positive change in these games, I am a diary tester Sleepy
You can test all day and night but it doesn't do much good if nobody can understand what you're saying.

Or that nobody is working on performance related problems for Android.

How about you go do something better with your time since we clearly don't care about Android

Why is there an Android version ?

If this is your attitude towards Android id just shut it down doesn't make sense to put up with users complaining about something thats not even "cared about"
