Not everything lost. Did You heard about Project Treble? Its new way providing android actualizations. Maybe directly from googlestrore apps?

Honor 7x prepared for treble https://www.xda-developers.com/honor-7x-android-oreo-beta-emui-8-0-project-treble/
List of devices with project treble enabled: https://www.xda-developers.com/list-android-devices-project-treble-support/
How to check if device is treble prepared: https://www.xda-developers.com/project-treble-android-oreo/

Looks like huawei with Oreo support would not be bad choice, if it gonna be really implemented in real life. How about updating gpu drivers from google store? that would be nice idea  to not need to update the whole system and test for bugs, only gpu drivers which would be a lot less hassle so easier to release for the public. Does anybody have more info about it more details?

GPU Turbo is just software solution. Wonder if mali/huawei baked some extraordinary drivers for these updates.

I literally don’t understand how they are pulling these numbers. It reads like snake oil. Up to 70% performance improvement from software? Don’t get me wrong android can be vey inefficient, but this suggests Huawei would have swooped in and basically removed all the inefficiency. I do not believe that.

I think they just lied about performance vs efficiency. It may just increase the thermal limits and tune everything to performance optimized. 70% might be fine if you compare your big cores to your small cores, and mobiles tends to fall back to the small cores quickly.

But honestly, if there is a "prefer performance and suck the battery as fast as you can" option, it might actually help dolphin...

I'm running on it being an attempt at branding driver updates. That or it shipped with hw blocks that were disabled at release time due to their software sucking balls (stuff like hardware composition or video decode could easily show that level of improvements in some use cases, but they specifically talk about "Games", where they're less likely to be useful).

Pessimistically, getting "up to" ~60% improvements in at least one game likely means you get 60% improvements in a single game. Maybe one that relies on EXT_buffer_storage Smile
