HiImClueless

Hey folks,

ive been reading last year people been making dolphin work for some games on the galaxy s8, then noticed i wasnt having the appropriate processor in my EU phone. I have now been getting my hands on a S9 (EU) and thought id give dolphin another shot on the new device.

Unfortunately the sound is still a mess and the games seem to run a little bit slow albeit there is a huge improvement to the S8 on my end. I am aware running a gamecube on a fricking phone is very demanding, however i was interested if anyone would be willing to help me tweek the settings? I am having multiple issues such as choosing the "correct" android build and putting the optimal settings. E.g. i havent really found ways to reduce resolution, turn of AA and the likes. As far as sound goes i can basically tick a box and that seems to be it.

Games ive tried: Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario the thousand year door

Any help sure is appreciated. Smile

What a lazy f***ing company. Hopefully samsung’s Proprietary GPU actually happens because they’d probably have some standards. Meanwhile ARM’s Mali team is still working on 2+2. And to keep it brief, there is almost no chance of the OpenGL drivers being fixed, as the mobile vendors are pushing their R&D teams to work on the Vulkan drivers first and foremost (with the exception of ImgTec who has been pushing some quality updates). This is what I hear from my time testing Talos Principle anyways (they are actually dropping ES support entirely due to a lack of support from vendors on that API).

TLDR ARM GPU’s suck and even high end 3D game devs think so.

HiImClueless

I didnt understand half of what you wrote, @degasus, if i am perfectly frank here. However i believe to understand that there are certain hardwareproblems on the side of Samsung that make it nigh impossible to use dolphin despite the CPU/GPU being decently strong.

What handheld device would you guys recommend for the use of dolphin -if there is any? Of course i could run dolphin on a desktop just fine, however to me the reason it is so appealing to emulate a GC or Wii is the portability. Just like back in the day with gameboys, just much better. Big Grin

Thanks for the replys you guys.
The most recent snapdragon based device available.

And even then it's not ideal.
Who wants to try Vulkan (5.0-6477 or newer) on Mali?

This make useable the emulator again at least with Vulkan (fixed broken textures and black screen )

Tested in crappy S6

Great Thanks for that

Lenovo k8 Note.

Before 6477, black screen and crash
After 6477, slightly longer black screen, and crash

Mediatek’s Mali Vulkan drivers are beyond help ATM, will have to wait for Oreo update.
Does vulkan Works in some cases on adreno?

I saw some adreno drivers update, but if doesnnt work att all, wll wait before flashing the update. ATM, every game on vulkan crash after a few swconds in my tests.
