Seems Khronos has removed the licensing fee and open sourced MoltenVK. Obviously I can’t speak to or expect interest from community devs, but at a baseline, is this actually enough to produce a functional metal backend on MacOS with minimal effort?

There's already a thread about this, it just wraps Vulkan to Metal commands. Devs are making a pure Metal backend instead
