If you're using 4xSSAA then you might as well use 2xIR instead and get the benefit of higher-resolution as the performance should be identical.

Do you think that having Windows 10 with DX12 and all the rest is worth the hassle of reinstalling everything from scratch?

You may wonder why I have Win7 OEM on a recent machine designed for Win10. That's because Microsoft, after yelling "Windows 10 for everybody!", still allows manufacturers to install Win7 OEM through some twisted "downgrade rights" agreement eligible for a free upgrade to Win10.

I have my Windows 10 recovery image ready to install, though it's my least favorite option. I can happily rest on Win7 for another couple years, but obviously support is declining quickly, defective device drivers are no longer updated, etc... so do you suggest to upgrade?

Hi, the issue is not in DX12 but in the Intel legacy principles.

Intel always depreciates old systems, as first among all GPu vendors. You will see your 7 system legacy soon, if it is not already. It was like that from beginning. You will see best performance and compatibility on win 10 and thats not cause OS but intel drivers. Of course, WDDM version may actually give some advantage, also booting time of win 10 is absolutely fast. But there are some disadvantages of 10 too, like spying tools, actualizations, appearance and so on.
It is your choice. But if you ask me which system gets better perf, Id say win 10. In doubt, you can always install win 10 on second partition. I know its about actualization, not buying another OS, but even that, you can install free iso from MS servers and test win 10 for some time until activation required.

I really don't want to sound like a broken record, but Intel's Linux drivers are actually quite possibly the best graphics drivers of any vendor and any OS and it's just the hardware obviously lacks the performance be fully taken advantage of (kind of reminds me of a certain "GP2 Engine" situation).

You're right!
Okami looks better with 2xIR and no AA. CPU runs at ~60% and GPU at ~100%, but performance is ok, just getting occasional slowdown or audio croaking on heavy rendering scenes. Will test with other games.
