A number of people have configured the Xbox controller for Zelda Skyward Sword. Configuring the DS4 seemed plausible. I tried and at least I was prompted to press the A button for Skyward Sword and could press it. Then I was prompted to connect the nunchuck. This is an issue with the configuration of an emulated wiimote. As stated numerous times by many moderators or whomst'd've ever, wiimotion+ is not supported/modeled/coded for emulated wiimote configurations.

Copy pasting other people's Xbox configs did not work. That is obvious due to the different naming scheme of the DS4. Each controller shares coresponding buttons. I'd expect something to work.

Does anyone have a set of configuration text files that work? Someone had made a set of 3 for various modes in order to play through the game on the emulator with an Xbox controller. I'm not going to shell out for that (*personally*) ugly and uncomfortable thing.

And now!!!!!

Could joycons work? I don't know if my desktop has Bluetooth… Do most computers have it built in? I could probably find a Bluetooth USB adapter if I had to. I remember hearing in some discussion that joycons can connect to a PC via Bluetooth. I did a quick search just an hour ago and found that this is true. Is there a chance that this would work? I for the first time today have really tried to do something with Dolphin. I don't have much experience so I wanted to ask before trying much of anything. What type of configuration and what kind of suggested layout would be best? (ie: wiimote, emulated wiimote, gamepad, etc; key bindings)
If you want to play TLZ:SS the only way to go is to buy a Wii-mote Plus and a Nunchuck, no other way works (or a Wii-mote with a Motion Plus extension and a nunchuck). Period. But since you already bought the game, you should already have one of those since they came with the game.

Wat, not all copies of the game come with a wiimote+, especially if it was bought used.

Wut? In the stores I went when it was new only versions with a Wii Mote plus (and a Special Edition with a Gold Wii mote plus) existed and I didn't want that because I already owned a Wii-mote plus eventually I caved and bought the non Special edition. Is that a PAL only thing?

Second hand is indeed a thing too... Tongue

Hahaha this is so funny. People project onto others the legal ownership of games here. But yes, I have 2 wiimotion+ units that I got for my wii a long time ago when I got wii Sports Resort and then later got a NEW copy of SS and both of which didn't come with the wiimotion+. I particularly remember getting 2 separate boxed units.

Are you sure that I cannot use a DS4? If the Xbox controller works is there a possible reason that the DS4 doesn't?

Joycons have gyroscopes so I'm wondering if that can work somehow and not specifically as emulated wiimote. But given your rather clear explanation I question this possibility.

I have everything needed. I can't stand the jagged look when I run it on my wiiu and my wii is broken but that doesn't make a difference in image quality as the wiiu refuses to boost the native resolution of the wii emulation.

It's not possible to emulate MotionPlus in Dolphin no matter what controller you use. Anyone who has managed to get it to work has been using an old forked version of Dolphin, and while it does let to get in-game and do things, certain parts of the game are nearly impossible to control. So it's not something I would recommend using.

And this includes joycons?

Edit: found this https://github.com/mfosse/JoyCon-Driver from this https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/DolphinEmulator/comments/6mlu3l/can_joycons_be_used_as_wii_controllers_with/

Will test tonight
We have not implemented wii motion plus in emulated wiimote mode so that won't work for any game requiring it

Is there a place where people discuss creating mods for such things to configure features that haven't been implemented? Would the controllers section be appropriate or would the mods section be better?
If you want to take a crack at, feel free!

And let's just stick to this topic for now.
