This is probably really obvious but is it possible to change the graphic and other settings while a game is running. I'm getting bored of quitting, change settings and then booting the game again and waiting until I get back into gameplay to see the changes.
Yes.
A few settings can't be changed when a game is running, such as dual core. The checkboxes (or equivalent) for those settings will be disabled (grayed out) in the settings window so that you'll see that you can't change them. Many other settings, like the graphics enhancements and graphics hacks, can be changed freely.

Is there any recommended settings for Spider-man 2, I'm getting what looks like black triangles showing up every so often.
