I'm also not sure why you would assume one of the devs themselves doesn't get the issue, but anyway, my point stands.
I understand it is slow and in an older version it was faster... BUT is it STILL slow if you downgrade NOW back to that version or is it FAST again? If it is FAST again with the OLD version, then something in the NEW version might have broken... So to find out WHAT is wrong, we need to know WHERE and WHEN it broke, also known as BISECTING the error. That means YOU need to find out the EXACT version that broke it for you since the DEV him/herself doesn't see the issue, and thus cannot test it.
ALSO: Ubershaders + nVidia + OGL = Slower... so please use Ubershaders + nVidia + D3D11.... Or: NO-Ubershaders + nVidia + OGL...
Third: Did you try what I asked? Put Dolphin back to defaults and at 1x IR and no other changes and then see if it is still slow on the NEW version?
Fourth: What are the temperatures of your GPU + CPU when you are playing and the slowdowns occur: Having a similar laptop doesn't mean the same laptop, so it might be that your computer IS overheating/downclocking when playing Dolphin games whereas his isn't...
I've had this problem before with my laptop a month ago.

The strange thing is that it started to work again after about a month.
Are other games that are less heavy on the CPU having a slowdown? Are you having the same problem with other emulators? If so, then it's a computer problem. I would give your laptop a month long break from emulating, but I suggest cleaning out dust from your computer if you haven't for a while because this might be caused by overheating.

First, okay.
Second, I switched FROM OGL. To D3D.
Third, no, I haven't had time.
Fourth, no, I'm not overheating, and it's not a computer problem. I can still play Wii U games just fine. It's dolphin.

It's not a computer problem, anything else on my computer runs great, it's just dolphin. CEMU runs great, video editing runs great, standard PC games... Everything.
Dolphin is actually different from most other game engines or some emulators because it mostly uses the processor/CPU instead of the GPU.
Have you tried using an EARLIER Dolphin build? Your individual computer is probably unable to handle SMG in later builds.
A possible cause would be thermal throttling (your computer reducing it's processing power to prevent heat damage). Are you sure your computer isn't overheating? Check using Real Temp.

I've checked with my overclocking utility (which I don't use for overclocking anymore but found useful) and it reports 70 or so, normal for my laptop under load (sometime it gets to 80, but 85 is throttling temperature so) so it's not throttling.

Ok it might not be throttling but that's still a pretty high temperature for it being idle? The normal is under 60 degrees Celsius.

I would suggest cleaning your laptop if you can.
Here's a reply I got from my thread, if it helps.
Quote:I can think of a few issues (mainly relating to your computer getting older and causing thermal issues). Cause if your idle temp and game running temp are the same, you're probably overheating.
1) you need to clean your computer vents. This could be causing it to be unable to vent air, causing thermal throttling to keep it at 57 degrees since it can't go any higher. To fix this/rule it out, get a can of compressed air, and with your computer off, blow it into your fan intake. Make sure you're near a garbage can.
2) The thermal paste on your computer is going bad and can't transfer heat, causing thermal throttling, etc. This may be harder to diagnose/fix. Google how to replace paste for your computer.
3) Go to Intel's driver downloads page and get the latest driver for your Intel HD 4000 iGPU.
4) Run Dolphin in portable mode and see if that helps

Not idle, in-game. Idles like 40 or 50.
Just to report here.
My problem was with the XFB option. I was using it with Virtual mode and my frames was occasionally dropping to 45.
After Disabling it I got a stable 60 fps.
Looking forward for the Dolphin release with XFB fixes for games that uses it. :-)
