Today decided to play some Mario Kart and gameplay is now all dark or in a dark purple tint. Now it's performing just like my Motorola Z Force. Gameplay shows dark, but menus and other parts of the game show fine.
When I was checking for a fix on my Moto Z Force, I ended up testing and looking through past releases and found the exact update where the dark tint issue started for my Moto Z Force. Last working update was 5.0-1650 where the game plays without any issues. Looking at the next release 5.0-1653, it states that "OGL/Vulkan: Drop destination alpha pass." Running this version causes the dim/dark game play in Mario Kart.
My question now is if release 5.0-5410 that was working fine since I got my Note 8, why is it now having the dark tint issues?
If a game doesn't happen to use dual-source blend, it won't hit this issue. Many games do not, which is why you might not notice this with other games. If only it was as simple as "One game works, then they all must work!" - it would make testing changes much easier

Thing is that Mario Kart DD was working fine on 5.0-5410, 10 days later started having the dark/purple tint issues... I have updated to the newest Dolphin release and the issues are still there now. My Note 8 has not gotten any new updates since the day I activated on the 5th of this month. I'm not implying that all games should work, I'm having issues with Mario Kart DD which was working fine few days before...

I can assure you that's not likely correct - perhaps the dual-source rendering code is only used in some tracks? Or you didn't have the version you though you had installed (if you happened to use my prototype PR, or had an old enough version that the second alpha-pass was still around).
What's causing this is a known issue, and not really a "bug" that was introduced recently
(though there is a small chance you've hit another issue, that happens to look *exactly* the same as one we already know about...)
The emulator installed has been the same (5.0-5410) since day one that I got my Note 8. had cleared various circuits already, like I said the gameplay was fine for the first 10 days, loaded my game the other day and the purple dark tint started to happen. I even deleted the dolphin folders the emulator creates with all the settings, uninstalled and reinstalled the emulator. Started new game and now all courses are in a dark purple tint. The menus and everything else look fine not darkened with the purple tint.I know the exact older release that works fine. Like I said before, this newer release was working fine and now it isn't...
Your phone probably updated its drivers and they broke something.
