That's interesting! You should file an issue on the googlecode issues list, stating that, and your specs. I noticed that this happens on some textures - but only with OpenGL plugin. Is that the case for you too?
In this case, the issue happens with directx and opengl. Only enabling "disable fog" setting in opengl, background textures appears (I've an Ati radeon HD4850).
I have some screenshots, so you will see the issue:
Directx 9:

OpenGL:

OpenGl + disabled fog:

I have reported the issue to googlecode. This is my ticket: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=1654
hmm, seems similar to a problem that iDeaS had with using fogs o-o

I can't get it to work by using that video from you tube.
I set all settings but it still hangs on select player screen.
Any suggestions ?
I am using the newest dolphin x64 on Win7 Ultimate x64
The error when I am choosing DSP-LLE :
Failed to load DSP rom

ys/GC/dsp_rom.bin
and
Failed to load DSP rom

ys/GC/dsp_coef.bin
suggestions ?
Please help me launch it, I want to test it so badly.
I am curious how it will work on my PC.

Use DSPSpy to dump dsp_rom and dsp_coef files from your Gamecube/Wii
A backup after the intro might be the solution to play directly with HLE plugin.
Woo, I Finally got the game to work!! It Just took a little tweaking. To Bad I can't control mario after i save state tho.
But At Least this game Shouldn't be to hard to fix in the feature, Since it only needs a few things to fix in the sound, and minor graphic issues

...though in the end the true fun about this game lies in the multiplayer for which you'll still need to take the Wii cuz there's only one-wiimote-support in Dolphin
