I should probably add the settings on Dolphin are default except under graphics configuration backend I changed it to direct 3d as I kept getting multiple OpenGL error messages.
Ive just been told my motherboard may not support an i3 or i5 processor. Not sure though but that may not help :/
That is correct, you will need a new motherboard. And maybe new RAM.
My motherboard is P5K31-VM/3ch
I may just have to keep this how it is running other lower requirement emulators for the time being then, and probably start a new build PC when finances improve.
Yeah, that's based on the LGA775 platform, with DDR2 RAM. You'll need a new motherboard and RAM to use any i3 or i5. And probably a new power supply.
What's your current budget for upgrading your computer?
Well I wanted to spend as little as possible just to upgrade to a point where dolphin runs to a playable level (some gamecube and in ideal world wii u games). No intentions to upgrade this machine further than that in the future. Its an old machine I have had lying around for years so thought if I can make use of existing kit why not. But I don't want to replace every part of the machine or it defeats the object, and if thats what is required ill hold off completely until i can spend a decent bit of money on a new set up.
At first I was hoping just a graphics card would suffice but so I was expecting 50-70 for a pre owned gpu but add ram motherboard processor power supply and ive only kept the shell from the original pc which actually I wont even need when it gets put in an arcade cabinet. So to answer your question sorry, i didnt have a fixed budget but can not stretch to new everything.
- OC your CPU - If possible.
- install Windows 7 x64. W10 has many incompatibilities with old hardware. From what I noticed in this GPU-z print(
http://imgur.com/a/0qBM7), your GPU\iGPU is using a generic driver, probably for incompatibility with the W10.
