I have downloaded a few 3rd party apps like this before with no issues, and have every other kind of emulator installed that run great. It's litereally just this one that is giving me trouble.

The latest dolphin development release at time of writing (dolphin-master-5.0-5455) has the following sha1 checksum:

0ab71b8c887c67effce28d2a98a1675feab4804f  dolphin-master-5.0-5455.apk

You can verify this with any sha1sum program (like the win32 coreutils port https://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-announce/2004q4/000184.html - or 7zip now ships a sha1 program it installs by default in the right-click menu under "CRC SHA")

If it does not match that, the download is corrupted. Download again.

If it consistently fails to get the same sha1 checksum, then something is either so badly wrong with your internet connection it can't download anything - or if it always is wrong in the /same way/ it may be some fancy firewall/antivirus program trying to extract and repack zip files and failing with a signed apk.

I appreciate the information. Since my S8+ had no issues installing, I can rule out the internet connection. Maybe the Note 8 is detecting something, or isn't detecting something. Hopefully someone who has a Note 8 will see this ans either say they have the same problem, or they had no issues. Until then I'll just do without.

Thanks again for your, and others help on this issue. I will be checking on the thread for updates.

Snapdragon 835 design is modified from A72, so unless new performance / big core design coming, you will not see performance jump even on new phone, since they still use same base design for processor.

Your best bet right now for dolphin emulator is shield tv, it use older A57 but with higher clock and better GPU, best GPU in mobile currently.

The 835s Kyro 280s are based of A73 cores afaik.
I just used the exact same file to install 5.0 Dolphin on the S8+, on my Note 8 and it is saying that a clearly not corrupted file is corrupt. No download issue, it's a note 8 compatibility issue. Not an error on y'alls part, but some kind of change in the Note 8.

I originally posted here and was emediately dismissed, maybe because I'm the first Note 8 user to try this? If you know of others that had no issue, please let me know.

Weird - maybe it's not *actually* that it's corrupt, but that it failed verification.

Depending on the version of android - you might have to enable an option in settings to allow apps from "unknown sources" to be installed? There's also an option in the developer options that "verifies apps over USB" - which apparently checks the code for all apps against a blacklist from google of known malware - I can't see why dolphin would trigger that, but maybe it's conflicting or hitting some heuristic? Maybe try installing with that disabled and let us know?

EDIT:
Or maybe the "installing" app doesn't have permissions? I've only ever installed it over adb, maybe it behaves differently if you download the apk on device and try to install it from the 'downloads' menu or some file manager or something?

That's not really a benefit for raw perf. Kryo 280 get handed it's dues by Kryo 1st gen, and without much of an appreciatable benefit in sustainability. Qualcomm increased the core count and nerfed each individual core. The S821 could be argued to be better than the S835 in dolphin when used in devices like the Pixel XL and OP3 that can sustain a fuller CPU load.

Correct. The Kyro 280 has a better integer workload, but the previous one has a better floating point calculations. Fortunately Dolphin seems to run better on the 835 vs the 821 anyways.

I appreciate the reply. I have explored those options sadly to no different outcome already before coming here. I consider myself very tech savy in regards to troubleshooting. I know the file isn't corrupt, but it is triggering something, I just don't know what.

Every 3rd party APK I have installed, I have done so from the downloads section in my 7zip2.0 app. I have it set to always ask to install from unknown sources and I give it 1 time access to do so, however in this situation, I have disabled it needing to ask and still claimed the file was corrupt.

In earlier posts, I said that a version of 4.0 has succesfully installed, however no video or audio upon starting emulation. I troubleshot that issue for a couple hours with various options and combinations to no affect.

I'm pretty bummed considering that I bought the Note 8 to do more, not less. But I have faith that either the devs here or someone else will find a solution.
I realized after I sent that, that if 1 version installs, and a different one doesn't, that means something changed in the file. Thankfully, it seems each minor tweak is documented and released. (I say minor, but I know a lot goes into each one)

I am going to see if I can't pinpoint what version tripped the Note 8 into thinking it's corrupt.

LET IT BE KNOWN THAT I AM THE REASON FUTURE NOTE 8 USERS CAN USE THIS

lul
Well that's no fun.

The version above my currently installed version was seen as corrupt, which I thought was way too easy.

Uninstalled current version, installed next version and it installed perfectly.

Uninstalled that, installed latest version, perfectly fine.

Aparently the, "corruptedness" was the Note 8 trying to install a full APK over the same APK when it should have been seen as a patch, or treated like an update from the original provider? (Nothing y'all did, I'm sure the updated apps in app store delete and re-install it for me. In this case would be me deleting, and installing the next updated version)

Mystery solved. Going to test performance and compare S8+ to Note 8 . I will post results soon.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
