I'm upgrading my tablet, and came across this wonderful app.

So my question, would this run okay? I'm not up to speed on tablet technology all that much.

If you have any suggestions as well, I'm open to them!

Thank you!

This has a Mediatek CPU , it is highly overpriced and won't be able to play dolphin at all actually expect performance below 5fps.

Tablets are a tough sell nowadays and there are none out there with the newest chipsets to run Dolphin.

There is a new tablet coming out soon though with the Snapdragon 835 chipset that will be able to run some low req games at decent framerates.

It will be called the Nokia N1 but it's likely going to have a huge 18.7" screen.

Hey thanks a lot!  I'll hold off on this one then.  It was between this and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A  -- I'd be playing Fire Emblem, and that's really it.  I'd like to just keep my game in its case and not pull it out except to back it up since it cost me like $80 friggen bucks.

Glad I could help , wouldn't want you to buy it if it can't do the part for you.

I would recommend the Pixel C as it has the latest Tegra X1 but ... It's like $1000 and the Nokia N1 when it comes out will be way cheaper and perform slightly better.

Yeah that's a bit outside my range right now.  Dolphin plays perfectly on my Laptop, but then again it can play the latest PC games on high res, so I would expect it to lol.
Uh actually this tablet would be able to run dolphin better than 5FPS, it has 2 A72 CPU cores.

Are those decent CPU's?

I seriously don't know anything about the tablet CPU's at all.  I used to do all sorts of the things to the PSP and android phones many years ago, but I haven't done anything in YEARS like it.

A72's are "big" CPU cores, meaning they have performance as a priority. Dolphin needs those first and foremost. As far as tablets go the MT8173 in the ZenPad 3S is one of the better options, unless you wanna splurge for a pixel C.

Hmm....interesting, thank you.  I may try it, at the very least I could always return it I guess.

There are 2 different versions of this Tablet

One with the Snapdragon 650 and one with the MT8176

The problem with the MT8176 is the GPU , PowerVR drivers are a huge bottleneck , I would expect garbled visuals and sub 10fps Even with the A72's
