Yeah I have no idea about that, I just wanted to put the test results out there so you guys have an estimate for the benefit WASAPI would bring. Maybe reasons to include it will come up in the future.

I should be able to get it for 20€ including shipment, that will be okay. Can you help me setting it up properly? I have barely any experience with audio, so if you could tell me how to configure the X-Fi driver backend, that would be great.

Do you have a link or other reference for editing the OpenAL Soft config file?

Were you able you able to test the X-Fi card using its native OpenAL implementation? I am curious on proper measurements, not what I did.

If you made a pull request and met Dolphin's code quality requirements, I'm pretty sure a WASAPI would be merged in based on past tendencies.

Unlike GPU backends, there isn't much to maintain for long periods of time.
