Hi there,

so whenever I use the OpenGL backend the frame rate gets really choppy.

By choppy I don't mean a slowdown. Dolphin says FPS:60 and VPS:60 but the image just drops frames randomly from time to time.

I've always had this problem with OpenGL so I've never used it but I need to use it now to run Super Paper Mario properly.

Is there any way to get rid of those framedrops? I guess it has to do with my NVidia Card ..
No, OpenGL works best, and is recommended for NVidia cards. You have the same card I have & OGL works fine for me. Try going into your NVidia control panel and setting it to High Performance. If that doesn't work, post what graphic settings you're using
The Nvidia Control Panel doesn't really change anything ..

This issue only appears in windowed mode. When I change to full screen I get smooth 60fps without any framedrops.
You can blame Window's DWM and their "vsync"
Yeah. Windows Aero in 7 and possibly 8 has issues with frame pacing and vsync, which is only an issue in Windowed mode. Keep fullscreen on and it won't be an issue.

Alternatively, some users say you can turn off aero entirely for a not as pretty desktop, but a functional Windowed mode. I haven't used 7 in several years though so I dunno if that works.

Windows 8 (and 8.1) doesn´t have Aero. They use Metro (or Modern) UI instead; just a FYI. Smile
Turning off Windows Aero would probably result in a slow down because in this case the CPU is stressed even more ..

Too bad there is no solution to this ..
No... Aero uses resources. Turning it off makes things faster
Just like JMC47 said...aero sucks up a lot of resources. That's why it was essentially removed in Win 8.0, because they wanted it to be available on mobile devices & aero would just suck up the battery life. Win 10 KINDA has it, but not as resource heavy as it was on Vista & Win 7
So upgrading to Windows 10 solves this problem?

Also, does Dolphin run smoother on Windows 10 than W7?
