If it really is random, then it'll be harder for the devs to look at the problem, or even determine if it's a problem with the emulator itself.

It also crashes when using some specific hacks. Like for example, my main iso for Mario Kart (PAL). Sometimes I'll be playing with a speed hack and about after hour it will crash. This happens about half of the time.
It's possible that it's either:
  • A bad dump of the game
  • The PC hardware can't handle the instruction properly
  • Certain necessary files (such as video card drivers) are either corrupt or are not up-to-date
File corruption can cause all sorts of things. Even when games may run properly, they may still cause a crash at some point.

Verify that your Mario Kart Wii dump is not corrupt, ensure you're using the latest developer build of Dolphin.

  • If you run the game on other PC machines, does it cause the same issue? Or does it occur only on one PC?
  • If it happens only on one PC, it's possible that your machine might have faulty RAM, check with Memtest86+ does it show any errors?
  • Does your machine have a faulty CPU? It can cause BSODs, system freezing and errors in applications. Use a different CPU with the same connector type.
Always remember, errors in applications can either be caused by faulty hardware, or software that is faulty or corrupt.

I just got this computer for Christmas. It seems that there are no hardware problems. However, I do have a bad GPU. intel hd 530. As I said earlier on the form, I am running Dolphin 5.0. Also, the only other PC I use is a  laptop, and they don't handle games very well.
I've tried that on older builds and the dolphin crashes with some specific controllers when using rumble feedback. It doesn't matter the game. Try playing a entire cup with force feedback disabled in dolphin and see if the crash happens.

OK. It seems that the rumble does not seem to crash the game.
