im trying to run this game in widescreen using the code from the wiki page, thing is i dont know if its a gecko or ar code, in the included screenshots on the wiki, it says "gecko code effect" but in the actual screenshot itself it says "widecreen AR enabled." https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Metal_Gear_Solid:_The_Twin_Snakes

when i try to add the wiki code as a gecko code, it doesnt save. when i add it as an ar code i get these black bars on the side of the screen so i dont even know if its doing anything.

Make sure you put the gecko in the correct spot. If there is already gecko codes it goes with them. Show me what is looks like before saving.

i just copied and pasted what the wiki said. so the wiki is missing part of the gecko code? if so, where can i find the full thing?
it is not. you are entering it incorrectly

care to explain how i am supposed to enter it then?
its a common pitfall by new Dolphin users which only experienced ones understand

are you just gonna mock me or are you gonna help? Ive had zero problems with adding gecko codes for other games, this is the only game i cant get it to work
It's Always:
[gecko]
$name
code

Gecko seems to be at the end most of the time. That's why putting codes like https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Super_Mario_Sunshine worked. You probably downloaded some codes using the built in downloader and already had the [gecko]
It's not missing part of the code, it's missing the part that tells dolphin what it is so it isn't as meaningless to dolphin as us ;P

What you want to have is:
gecko being the most recent bracketed thing above
