Ok so i've been told of a tweak by a chap over at XDA called hamdir https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/pnpthermals-tweak-customized-profiles-t3411860

Not sure how useful it is to others or who may not be rooted but he explains about the HTC 10 (my phone) and the problems with throttling far too early and for the wrong reasons, ie not to stop overheating but to save on battery, appreciate why HTC have done this but it wasn't necessary, certainly not because we lose a lot of performance because of it.

Anyway, he explains things better and the mod does seem safe, at least for me it has been anyway.

On testing it, i do get a relatively solid 25 fps with some drops to 15-17 but not for long, I don't think i'm going to get much more out of it, and for whatever reason, even when it seems that it's giving everything it's got it still doesn't go over 25fps? Quite odd, looks and feels like it's being restricted, none of the cores are closing down at this point either.

Been trying to do a video of this for a few days now, and yesterday when i did one, my SD corrupted? Lol classic, i'll do one tonight.

@Snomelbelak had 25fps in the forsaken fortress, with that ini set up and this pnp tweak with the GPU set to high boost and a slight overclock, i think it may just be perfect or if not, it'll be the best it can be.

Will check it out and see. Smile

PS: Shame about the audio emulation, 5- 10% more performance at this point would be enough to get this pretty much spot on, is there no way to draw less graphics or emulate less of the audio ie: Music perhaps?
Also @JosJuice you said that this change in the ini "Backend = No Audio Output" would have no bearing over performance at all right? Is that 100%

Not doubting you but I think the @Snomelbelak had yielded some better frames by doing this on the forsaken fortress? Just wondering if it wasn't that what could it have been ? As i couldn't get over 20fps on that part of the game, just too much going on.
Again to everyone inputting here, i appreciate all your time and patience. Smile

I can't promise it will do literally nothing at all to the performance, but I can promise that it won't disable the actual audio emulation. So if it does affect the performance, there won't be any large difference.

Cheers, I appreciate the info mate Smile

Small differences if there's enough of them will add up to a make a big difference hopefully Smile

Heres a couple of video's, all info in the video, apologies for the focus, i need a second device to see what i'm filming, was shot on a HTC RE Sad great device but the phone i'm using is the view finder.

Will get another and record again, but for now here's two videos, one with PNP and one with performance mode on.

Idle temps: 33c
Load temps after 2 mins: PNP - 42c.  Performance mode: 52c

I'll do another test to see how high the temp goes, need some non invasive software to monitor it without taking too much cpu to do so.

First with only the PNP tweak:

Second with the performance mode turned on:

It's definitely improved since i first used it.

Is there any more we can do??

PS: Is this the types of fps you guys are getting on onset island with the ship in harbour too? Have only got myself as a basis for comparison at the moment, lot better than what i had though.

Heh, you may get 0.1 fps, and you'll loose audio. If you think this is a good deal, try the null video backend. You might get +10 fps, but you'll loose video.
lol.

Love the motivational talks i get on this thread, really keeps me upbeat
@degasus @helios

Don't you think that the emulator judging from the video's i've put up is running well?

I ran my video alongside a shield one and beyond a few parts there is not much difference.

I've asked for another PNP profile with more performance possible coming soon so the temps will remain down whilst the performance stays up.

Will see once i know more.
