I'm running Dolphin 5.0 x64 on Windows 10.
CPU: AMD A10-7700K
GPU: AMD Radeon R7
RAM: 16GB DDR3

I've only tried playing Wii Sports and Sports Resort so far, but I'm already noticing that the FPS drops below 60 and the audio gets garbled occasionally. I'm assuming if I try to play more intensive games, it will be significantly worse.

Are there any upgrades I can make that will improve things, short of swapping out the motherboard?
Since it's an unlocked multiplier CPU , you should overclock it , stock speed 3.4GHz is too slow....
My A10 6790k @ 4.5GHz + Nvidia GTX 750 run most games fine at 1080p . Demanding games like The Last Story is quite hard to reach full speed on an AMD CPU but.... With a suicide OC of 5.0GHz, I was able to get it run at full speed too
APU graphic is only good enough for 720p or lower res , sometime 1080p in some light-weight game . A real graphic card like GTX 750 or the new GTX 1050 will help alot
Also steer clear of the default OpenGL backend, it's slow on AMD GPU
