Well, with my chosen board I am pretty sure that I won't be able to overclock the 6100 that way. Waiting 2 months for the 7350k really sucks but I think its the best bet.
So am I right in assuming the only real way to tell single core performance is bench marks then? I don't see any ratings as far as IPC is concerned on CPU's.

You mean that MSI B150 ? You won't be able to overclock anything with that board
The new i3 7350k will need Z270 or Z170 board at least
I figured that, I went and looked into it after you mentioned it before. I'm very new to overclocking, though not so much to computer projects. Official support not being there doesn't mean a lot to me...My fried NuC can testify to that T.T It was a fun little board.
Anyways, You guys really taught me a ton here and I appreciate all the info SO much. Regarding my earlier question about IPC I found some good info
here. Still reading myself and it is very intriguing.
As far as which way I'm gonna go I'm not sure, have a few hours left to decide. At least now I can decide with some good information in hand

You don't need to wait for it. The 6100 is perfectly serviceable and would work fine for all but the most demanding games in Dolphin (Maybe Last Story? Rogue Squadron runs fine on my lower clocked Haswell)
It's just a "If you want the best for your money", the kaby i3 would be what you want.
It would also be a little more future proof if looking to possibly run more demanding emulators in the future. Ironically at this rate this thing is going to turn out better than my somewhat dated gaming pc. And significantly cheaper lol. Maybe I'll swap the GPU's and go from there xD
I'll probably end up getting the 6100 and upgrading later to the 7350k when/if I ever need it.
