The big reveal is finally coming within the next 12 hours. Figure we might as well talk about it before, during, and after.
Personally, I think we're just going to see most of the rumors confirmed (dockable handheld thingie for on-the-go, bigger console for your TV). Dunno about using carts or the specs everyone keeps throwing around for the CPU and GPU.
The only thing I want is backwards compatibility (no, not in the form of Wii U Virtual Consoles or downloadable titles) so it justifies me passing up the Wii U. Not sure that's gonna happen, but I'll hold out on that until they say otherwise.
Wait, what's in 12 hours?
Honestly I'm going to remain skeptical of any rumors that have been passed around. Journalists "sources" have ranged from what they like to call "credible sources" which by itself is completely meaningless, to random users from neogaf, twitter, or 4chan. Also Nintendo's webpage says "Watch the preview trailer for Nintendo's next home system." To be honest, I won't be surprised at all if Nintendo doesn't even mention the technical specs (CPU, GPU, basically anything internal) when they announce the system. Not saying the dockable handheld thingie isn't going to happen, it probably will. Just going to have to wait and see. Fingers crossed.

A press event of some sort revealing more info about the NX (presumably showing off the system). Google "Nintendo NX" and it's all over the News portion at the top search results. At least, that's how I found it
If it really is a 2-in-1 type of system, aiming for both consoles and handhelds, I wonder if this means the end of Nintendo's dedicated portable line (bye bye 3DS?). I mean, the last time Nintendo tried to do something like that was when it released the DS, and said something to the effect that it wasn't supposed to cannibalize GBA sales, but that's exactly what it did. But then again, the NDS ran everything a GBA could and more. We don't know what the NX software looks like. Would be interesting to see where the 3DS falls in Nintendo's long-term plans after this.
If Nintendo NX really is a hybrid console and it ends using cartridges to store its games like the rumours that keep popping, I'm betting on retrocompatibility with 3DS software (it probably won't be native like GC => Wii or Wii => Wii U but since 3DS isn't that powerful it should be pretty doable to do by software, like what MS is doing on Xbox One)...
Unfortunately I'll be attending on an local event full day so I'll only see whatever Nintendo is planning to show later

They talked about a "preview trailer". Sounds more like a small reveal with very few or no details at all than a "big reveal" like Sony and Microsoft did for PS4 and XOne.
wonder if it'll run gamecube games...
