Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I am very interested in the Pixel C google that incorporates an X1.
Does someone has it and turns this tablet android dolphin emu especially with the new version integrating Vulkan.
Is it playable as a shield tv because the processor (of pixel c) was on 4 cores instead of 8 on tv shield
Thank you in advance for your answers and desolated for my poor English
Pierre
AFAIK the pixel C has some disadvantages over the android tv:
- No desktop OpenGL profile available. So we eg lack logic ops. But Vulkan should make this argument invalid.
- Worse thermal. The pixel will overhead and so throttle down a bit if you use it for a few minutes at full power.

But else, it should be also a very good plattform to use dolphin Big Grin
Thanks a lot for your answer degasus, because I could not find any video on youtube dolphin pixel c .. There are a few on the shield tv so it gives me an idea ..
Even you, you tried dolphin on pixel c?
I don't have the pixel C, but I was told that there are those issues.

On the android tv, vulkan isn't faster than GL either. We're usually bottlenecked by the PPC JIT.
Also, don't try to get rid of 10W in a tablet Wink

If you want a bit more technical answer:
The pixel c uses the binary blob of nvidia, but with the open source nouveau kernel driver.
GL / Vulkan driver quality is usually given by the user space part, so here the blob.
Power management is done in the kernel, so maybe there are some issues with reclocking Wink
I don t understand all.. but suddenly I am concerned about the interest of a tablet for dolphin pixel c ..
It would interested me to play about ten gamecube games on android tablet -> Pixel C -> without much lag or sizzling sound
Games are : Resident 4, Mario Kart DD, Zelda WW, 007 Goldeneye..
If anyone has this tablet and tested these games, I'm interested in your feedback
Thanks a lot

Oh, please keep in mind that dolphin needed a very powerfull desktop a few years ago. Now, a mediocre desktop is usually fine. But no mobile is as powerful as a mediocre desktop. So while a few games may run fine, most of them won't work without performance issues. If you just want to play games, I'd buy a desktop. any i3-6xxx skylake desktop CPU will be fine.
I am quite aware of what you say. by against, what I wanted was to turn c dolphin on a android tablet ..
a pc i3 enough to run dolphin, I would agree with you..

Android tablets will give a subpar experience atm. You would be better off with a windows tablet for dolphin. I wouldn't bother spending a premium on the pixel c if all you want it for is dolphin, since the experience wouldn't be that good, at least from what I've heard.
Thanks a lot for your answers..
I just wanted to know if some owners of Pixel C has arrived launch Gamecube games with the new build in dolphin integrating Vulkan .. And know the results ..
Concerning the windows tablet, I already have a Teclast pro x3 which launches properly dolphin and pcsx2. I m interested in the android version because I made a Hyperspin 70 systems on android, just missing me Gamecube and PS2 (that I forget because no sufficiently powerful tablet emulator and play in its infancy). I do not feel the courage to remake a complete system Hyperspin under windows.
I've tried Mario Kart DD + Zelda WW on the shield TV. As it's the same SOC, but with better thermal handling, it is *at least* as fast as the pixel C. Both are close to fullspeed, but by far not all the time. So you'll get lots of slowdowns + stutters.

So if you want to get dolphin running well on a mobile plattform, use an intel skylake i5. mobile i3 lacks turbo clock. Also keep care to use at least a 15W device, no core-m is able to handle this well. Bad luck, such a CPU won't fit into a tablet without fans.
