Hey there :-)
My current graphic card is a onboard HD 3300 and my cpu is a AMD X4 955BE.
I would like to upgrade my graphic card. So I would like to know, which would be ebough for Doplhin. With this onboard card, none of the games run with normal speed.
I think of getting the new ATI HD5750 or Hd5770. Would they be enough or would even a lower card be enough? ATI or NVidia...
But I don´t want to spend more than 130$. But I would be angry if I buy one, and still can´t play well ;-)
So what you would buy?

Thx guys and girls!
Get Nvidia gtx295 .... Ati suks
yeah right!
come on ...
on topic : if your question is about the behavior of dolphin , then it wont change much, but for pc gaming , it s the way to go : RED RED RED!

yes it will. I was using an onboard 4200 overclocked to the 3300 speeds and when i put in a radeon 5750 my frame rates increased by about 20. Onboard actually does have a bad affect on dolphin

@ NAROTH: Ok someone didn´t care to read my post. gtx295 hast nothing to do with 130$! So shut up with your unqualified posts you fanboy and stop posting in every thread "get a 295!" THX!
The other ones: Thanx a lot for your support. I think a 5750 would be enough for pc gaming and I hope also for dolphin. With my current card I can´t play at least one game
What cpu do you have together with your new 5750? And what games have which fps? Thx you! :-)
AMD Phenom II X2 550 @ 3.4ghz
Just about all games go between 50-60 fps constantly.
Trust me your graphics card is holding you back massively.
The reason your getting horrible fps is because your graphics card can't keep up with you cpu. To test how fast it will go with a new graphics card set frame skipping to 1. Your graphics card should be able to handle 30fps instead of 60(my 4200 OC. to 3300 speeds can) and that will tell you what your cpu is capable of.

Good Info, i agree.
Except you got the clock speed wrong on that processor.

I heard it OC to 4.0Ghz on air.

Haha it's difficult to have it at 4.0..I have a Phenom B50 Black edition (550 BE with 4 cores unlocked with 790 chipset). With 4 cores i have it stable at 3.6Ghz..But with 3.8 or 3.9 i have bluescreens.
BTW i dont know to much about dolphin but it's recomended use frameskipping with Zeldas TP? My video card is ATI 4870 1 GB.

The excess two cores are somewhat of a bottleneck, and thus shut off by amd for a reason.
Overclocking to 4.0 Ghz with the two extra cores is a hassle.
Im assuming it's easy with just a standard dual core.
Your system shouldn't need frameskip at all with your specifications.
What power supply are you using though. You don't want to run a 5750 on anything below a high-quality 400W power supply, 450W+ if you're heavily overclocking. It's the most overlooked component in the computer, but arguably the most important for stability.
Yeah, don't listen to the Nvidia fanboy. Best mid-range bang for the buck is ATI right now.
