A Boy and His Blob

The classic platforming adventure of a young boy and his jellybean-eating blob returns to the Wii in a completely new, refreshing gaming experience. Developed by WayForward and based on the beloved 1989 NES original, the rebirth of this classic title expands upon the original platform adventure and features groundbreaking hand-drawn and painted animation technology.

In A Boy and His Blob, an evil emperor has seized the throne of Blobolonia, and the fate of its inhabitants lies in the hands of the blob and a young boy he encounters when he crash lands on Earth. Playing the part of the boy, gamers must work together with their new blob friend to solve puzzles, defeat monsters, and escape danger on Earth and Blobolonia. By feeding the blob jelly beans, players can activate his special abilities to transform him into helpful tools -- including a ladder, trampoline, parachute, cannon, shield and many more. Every different blob form aids the boy as he navigates 40 side-scrolling levels filled with hidden treasures and unlockable bonus content on the way to the Emperor's Citadel. Classic beans such as Licorice Ladder, Apple Jack, and Tangerine Trampoline, are joined by all-new jellybeans, including Bubble Gum Bubble and Caramel Cannon to provide a brand new play experience that only Wii can provide!

When you go back to hideout, game can crash, but it's pretty random

Overall

Game is playable, not sure if fully, it crashes when you want to go to hideout. Game runs at 50-60 FPS most of the times, graphics are fine, controls work well. Status: Playable

Status: Playable

Settings:
1. This game plays well on Dolphin-r4292, but any revision between r4293 & r4486 (latest) is not recommended, which crashes quite frequently with also a degraded performance.
2. You'd better play with DirectX Plugin, as OpenGL Plugin will cause issue 2
3. A game controller with at least one analog stick is mandatory. You should follow these instructions: Wiimote config -> Connect Nunchck -> map the stick to analog. (You can use external tools like “Joy2key" to help you map other buttons.) Due to some bug of Dolphin, if you are playing with keyboard, you will find out that you are not able to select "Black Jellybean (ladder)" for ever.
4. Set aspect ratio to: 16:9
5. No other special settings needed.

Graphics: No notable glitches, yet
Souond: No notable glitches, yet

Issues:
1. Video could lose sync with sound when playing opening cut-scene due to performance slowdown.
2. [With OpenGL Plugin] A row of about 20+ pixels at the bottom of screen is constantly cut off or not shown, so sometimes you can't see the boy's feet ... (have a look at the last screenshot which I had the border cropped)
3. [With Keyboard Only] You can't play through stage 1-2 because you are not able to select black jellybean. Refer to Setting 3 for solution. [PS: This issue is fixed in r4576, now a Keyboard-Emulated-Nunchuck / Keyboard-Emulated-ClassicController can work well, a real joystick is not mandatory]

PS: This is a good game worth playing.

Yep, this game is aces. I played completely through the first two levels, as well as the first challenge level, and got all the chests. As noted elsewhere, though, the last 20 or so pixels on the bottom of the screen are being cropped off. Actually, it looks as if that part of the foreground is being covered by part of the background, if that makes any sense.

The only time the game crashed for me was by returning to the hideout via the pause menu. Otherwise, everything was just peachy. I could get back to the hideout just fine if I finished the level normally.
Sorry for the double post, but I just discovered that the missing part of the screen is only missing in OpenGL - it's perfectly visible in DirectX (which annoys me to no end since I greatly prefer OpenGL).

Where did you get the "Black Pill"? I've finished the crocodile stage which showed an icon of black pill on it but still didn't get that pill.
You don't earn the jellybeans. They just appear as one of four beans in your menu depending on which level you're playing. On some levels you may have the black one, on some you don't. The game only gives you the beans you require to finish a particular stage.

Tell me, how am I supposed to build a ladder here without black jellybean? I can toggle only between red bean and blue bean. The black bean is not selectable no matter how hard I press the right arrow.

Huh. Dunno what to tell you - there must be some conflict with your control scheme. Pressing right on the nunchuck stick should select the black bean. Works fine on mine. I currently have the nunchuck configured to use the left analog stick of my 360 controller.

Could you tell me what revision are you running? I believe this is a Dolphin bug.

PS: Isn't it painful to map the nunchuck to a game controller while you still have to press other buttons on keyboard?
