Thats a nice benchmark Abfab
Gotta love tha testing rig ^^
You know what diddy , Im coming from a 9800GX2 to a 5870 and it is like Night and Day ! Before that I had a 8800Gts ,before again a Radeon x800pro ect ,ect...

Im saving some more money to buy another one in February!

Btw , for those who appreciate Hardware and not Brands , just like me , I just want to say that , this is all a matter of money for Ati and Nvidia , that's why I try to be Objective and not scream that ATI is better or Nvidia is better !

I know you are kidding you little monkey^^ and ,yep I do have a 5870, I dont buy consoles when they re coming out except Nintendos ones ,I used to , but now (that I have a Job)I prefer to invest in a good video card every 2 or 3 years ^^ It s always cheaper !(from my experience)
Nvidia is going to bounce back with fermi architecture, but I am seeing more and more nvidia is putting a little less effort into they're home desktop gpu development than they have previously. The reason, nvidia knows that the home desktop computer will become much less relevant as time goes on. Cell phones and other highly portable devices are becoming more and more powerfull to the point where most people could replace their laptop or even desktop with a high powered smartphone(i.e. Nokia N900) or an arm based netbook. Nvidia has shown their interest in competing in this field with the tegra platform.

Nvidia will keep on developing high powered desktop gpu's for the professional market as you can see with their emphasis on cuda. Their home consumer line of gpus(geforce) will just be a by-product of this development and may disappear when the home desktop as we know fades away.

A little while back people were saying nvidia was gonna die when the announcement of intel's larrabee. People were speculating that larrabee would be integrated into the cpu chip, since ati was bought by amd they also assumed ati gpu's would go this route as well leaving nvidia in the dark because they aren't associated with a cpu vendor.

What we are seeing now is that the cpu vendors, intel and amd, may become irrelevant because the arm cpus are beginning to reach speeds high enough to compete with the x86 and x64 cpus while still retaining high energy efficiency. Nvidia sees this and that's why they developed tegra.
