Brawl does not look weird when playing opengl but when playing direct3d or 3d11 brawl title screen and menu looks weird. Specifically the letter s looks weird. Please help thanks

Are you running the latest drivers for the R9 290?

For instance, the latest AMD driver for that GPU is 16.30.2311.

Thanks for your help but I already updated to latest driver 16.8.2 actually. 16.30 whatever you said is not latest version.

Can confirm, 16.8.2 is the latest version. Been having trouble with my RX 480 as well..

That is the software-version, not the driver-version. Look, i have the software-version 16.7.3, but the driver-version is 16.30.2311:
