Hi everyone,
I am in general playing with vsync activated.
Some time ago, I started already a thread concerning slow downs during mario kart double dash.
The issue was vsync, and it could be resolved with the exclusive full screen mode.
However meanwhile the issue still occurs and it is independent of the exclusive full screen mode (activating and deactivating does not matter).
I have to deactivate the vsync in the settings so that everything runs smooth.
The nvidia driver (gtx760) is up to date.
Issue is occurring since 5.0 release.
Can someone take care of that? No other emulator (cemu, pcsx2, demul etc.) have issues with vsync. So it seems dolphin related.
Using Nvidia Profile Inspector, for example, make the vsync type "Adaptive" instead of "Standard". You shouldn't have performance issues after that.

Did that already.
But this is not the solution for Dolphin (in opengl mode), which is currently the only emulator which has vsync regressions.
The goal in dolphin should be to have a working vsync without slowdowns and without adapting the nvidia profile management.
In general the issues occurs after several minutes, because it seems the buffering takes time.
Downgraded to 5.0 Official Release.
Vsync issues are gone with the exclusive full screen mode.
So it seems a regression during the development of Post-5.0.
The normal full screen mode has also issues in 5.0.
Means, to use vsync, the exclusive mode plus the official 5.0 release have to be used.
If it's a regression go find what build caused it. That's the absolute best thing you can do to help us fix whatever the issue could be

Testing 100 Builds is a little bit challenging. xD
You don't test 100 builds, you always test the build in the middle between working and not working, so 10 builds for 1000 revisions.
So I tried to figure out the version, but I was not able to find it.
However you can really simple reproduce the issue.
Use OpenGL with Vsync and fullscreen enabled
Use a PAL game like mario kart double dash
select 60Hz in the game
go into the first race and the framerate will drop to the half
If you switch back to window mode the game runs flawlessly.
Another aspect: If you quit the game and the start the game again (in fullscreen) the game will now boot with half framerate.
-> So OpenGL and Vsync has still serious serious issues.
CUrrently doplhin is not usable with vsync and opengl
With exclusive fullscreen and render to main window enabled, and also starting in window and then going to fullscreen, these happen
D3ds have no tearing with vsync disabled.
Vulkan and opengl tear but vsync fixes it.
Yes, this is the issue. But independent of exclusive fullscreen or normal fullscreen, the issue occurs.
OpenGL and Vulkan are not compatible with vsync.
DX11 and DX12 are working without problems.
However the compatibility of OpenGL is higher.
