Is it the Nunchuk that it doesn't detect or the MotionPlus? MotionPlus detection is still somewhat a problem; you often have to plug/unplug the Nunchuk and/or the M+ (if not built-in) several times before the game detects it, and it has to be unplugged before starting the game.

The udev rule should work (I should know, I tried and edited it when working on the PR). Make sure you have put it to the correct location and disconnected/reconnected your DolphinBar (or the rules aren't active).

edit: I just saw your message about the Wiimote not being detected with a Nunchuk. I'll try this later and see if I can reproduce it.
I could not test motionplus yet, cause i cannot even start Zelda (dont have another game with motion+). It says to plug in the nunchuck directly after Wii-starting-screen. I tried to plug in and out often, restarted Wiimote, restarted Dolphinbar... but always the same.

But in mh3 its like you said: start game, then plug in the nunchuck and it works fine.

Motion+ is build-in, not external. But still its a crappy 3rd party controller... not sure if that could be a problem to get workung nunchuck/motion+.

Ok i did not plug out the Dolphinbar after making the udev rule, so that should do it.
I can't reproduce your Nunchuk issue with an official -TR Wiimote (Wiimote+) + official Nunchuk.

Can you test the Wiimote on a Wii and see if you have issues with it? If there's no issue, then it's potentially something Dolphin is doing wrong.
I dont know anybody who got a Wii...

I bought a refurb wiimote with motion plus and nunchuck from Nintendo for approx 30 dollars, shipped. The official wiimote corrected my issues, listed earlier in the thread.
If it's from Nintendo, it's considered "official". Sounds like you got a defective Wiimote…
I just baught a Wiimote + Nunchuck by Nintendo:
Everything works fine yet. Wiimote can connect to games in Windows and Linux, the Nunchuck issue is fixed (Zelda: Skyward Sword could not detect nunchuck from a 3rd party controller on linux).

Tested in Monster Hunter 3 and Zelda Skyward Sword. I think this fixed all issues. Sorry for that big trouble just cause of the controller that didnt work at all.
If you have a spare Bluetooth adapter, you may want to try PR 4195 which should work around most Wiimote related issues.

I like to add that is by pure guess as i can't reproduce it and it might not work.

I just tried this build and it fixed my connectivity problems. Thank You! Is there any way to integrate this to my current Dolphin version, or would I have to fully replace it (and how if I do)?
i'm trying to read through but, i' m at a loss and i'm sure by now half this info is waaaayy outdated.

asfar as i know it's authentic nintendo RVL-003 that came with my wii

ryzen 5 1600
8gb ddr4
gtx 1050 ti nvidia prop 418
Elementary os 5 juno (ubuntu 18.04 LTS)
nintendo rvl-003
mayflash dolphin bar

all the lights are there, in mode 4, display lights as controller 1 and rumbles when i launch dolphin but, nothing in games. tried the menu for gc and set device 1 as none.

EDIT: after fiddling and maybe even that mdam dev package another user mentioned in here and rebooting has it to where i can get passed a safety screen to a main menu but, the arrow/aiming/wii mouse still doesn't work.

EDIT: my dolphin bar LEDs may be burned out
