First of all I Would like to thank you for every update (android or not). It's your free time, We always must remember that.
Related with this topic... Why the interface of +5.0 versions is worse than +4.0? I mean, "controller setup", problems with multi-disc, missing part 1 & 2 (look at:
https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-android-dolphin-missing-games-in-list)...
I'm not criticising, only asking because I don't understand why (in interface) the new android versions look "more beta" than before.
Thank you very much! I wish I knew coding for helping on Android
PS: sorry for English mistakes
The main reason for that was that old versions had an old UI that was more feature complete. The new UI was nicer on various form factors, but missing things like controller config. I'm not sure why we merged it in an incomplete state. The writer of the UI rewrite got busy with life and nobody else wants to get into Android dev to fix it up.
Thank you for your clear anwser
I mean, don't get me wrong. IMO we fucked up with merging a half-baked UI. I'm not the one who merged it and I didn't follow the PR that was adding it so I don't know the reasoning for it. But yeah. Unless somebody familiar with Android dev wants to fix a lot of the new UI's shortcomings, that probably won't change.
As for the core emulation stuff, that's just a clusterfuck of buggy drivers, slow CPUs, CPUs that run too hot, etc etc etc. The JITARM64 recompiler is more or less fine. The graphics backend I think is fine too? When it's not puking on a bad driver. Vulkan may or may not alleviate some of that. We don't know yet.
It's not just buffer_storage. One or two more extensions are needed I believe.
Well, don't worry. Mistakes happen, you aren't robots
I'm wondering about:
1) How about asking for Android developers in Social Networks (reddit, facebook, twitter)? As an official petition/post.
2) Maybe we can use bountysource (
https://www.bountysource.com/teams/dolphin-emu/issues). Not very familiar with the site, But It seems like a website for promoting open-source projects. It's very sad that nobody wants to improve Android version... specially when Android is so popular nowadays. Perhaps we can attract some skilled developers with this way. I would donate up to 20€ for a clean/complete UI, and I'm sure that other people would like to donate (more or less) too for a more functional/polished android version.
Just a few ideas.
Honestly I don't remember what they were.
Do remember API support is just one of many problems that is crippling Dolphin on Android. The nexus 5x has everything required on Android N and it still slows to a crawl after 5 minutes.

No, dual source blend has almost no effect on performance. It's used for accurate blending in a few games. For performance, only the extension base_vertex (within ES3.2) and buffer_storage matters. And of course, the general quallity of the driver.

The old UI was more feature complete, but the design was very bad. A common bug was that config changes were just written randomly. So sigmabeta, the dev who also wrote all but the configuration on android, rewrote it. It was a kind of "not already done, but it's fine to play games", so we've merged it. I thought configuration input will come in a few days/weeks. Seems like I was wrong, life is a bitch :/
About at the same time, the main ARM dev had to stop working on dolphin. Now I think I'm the last one with a bit ARM experience, but I hate the android plattform. Sorry. I going to maintain the JIT, there were already a few performance enhancements and fixes, but I don't want to work on the GUI.
I don't know why, but it seems like there aren't many voluntary android developers. I'd like to assist every contributor, but most of them don't want to work on android :/ Through the ARM instruction set is by far nicer than X64.

I would like trying to fix the controller setup. As I said before, I don't know coding (far beyond "hello world"), but maybe If I could download 4.0-8766 and compare with actual builds.... well you know, no coding but "copy&paste" or similar.
I will try to learn something about this. Perhaps you could help me, with this: Which are the files (.xml, .java...) for the Android UI?
Please, guys, don't think this will resolve anything, but I want to try it

.
Thanks
