It leads to confusion.   Smile

Not really.  Just think it through logically.  Obviously most people aren't confused with this

This isn't the first time I've seen someone make this mistake.

Well, maybe it's about time to do something about it then. Just my 2 cts...
A tutorial about all the setups and prefs, etc...
Something people can download...
Maybe a future update could change the "Keyboard" string in the pulldown to "GameCube Keyboard", or something, just to make it clearer that you're emulating a GC accessory and not trying to assign input to your PC keyboard, which is done in a separate configuration window after you define the peripheral you want to emulate.

Yes, something like that would be nice as well. Wink

I was thinking of that, though I would rather use the official name "ASCII Keyboard Controller" (or possibly "GameCube Keyboard Controller" as a compromise).
That could also be rather confusing to some people, as they might not know the GC had such a weird accessory as the "keytroller". Also, you're technically not emulating the keytroller in the port you select, because when you select to emulate the GC keyboard, you only get to define keys for the keyboard itself and not buttons for the controller portion. A real GC with a keytroller connected allows you to type and play from a single controller port, but Dolphin requires you to dedicate a port solely for keyboard functionality (which isn't a problem, but it would make using the keytroller label inaccurate, since Dolphin won't let you play and type using only one port).

Maybe. I was hoping that people wouldn't pick something they don't recognize or think sounds weird.

You're still emulating a keyboard controller, just without the ability to map the regular controller buttons. The keyboard is a part of the controller, so it can't be treated separately from the controller itself in my opinion.
There were also third-party stand-alone keyboards released for the GC, so I don't really see the need to use potentially confusing and inaccurate nomenclature when the point is to make the UI clearer and not more obtuse.
