Read that page! The overdrawing from the motherboard 12v (briefly peaking at more than double the spec) is really scary! And it was not overclocked, it was just running Metro Last Light at 4K.

AMD has acknowledged the issue, and promises a fix (likely a firmware update?).
Yeah, I saw the video on it from AdoredTV today. It's either terrifying or not that bad, but there are definitely cards with worse peaks and, when overclocked, worse averages, so it might turn out that everything's fine and has actually been blown out of proportion. It also might not, but the 4GB version still exists and is fine.
Wait for GTX 1060 then . Nvidia said it will be on par with GTX 980 at 120W TDP
The price at launch will be expensive without a doubt and you will have to order it at midnight because it will be out of stock before you know it .Patience is a virtue ...

Or get a non-reference 480 with an 8-pin (up to 150w vs 6-pin's 75w) like the Sapphire Nitro and then you don't have to deal with the stock cooler either.

UPDATE: Or just use the newest drivers (imagine that!) which makes this whole thing a non-issue:

Yeah, screw the the 480....I'm eyeing the 1060gtx...
