1. Lack of readily available hardware
2. Lack of interest
3. Tiny game library compared to the huge library of the GC/Wii
4. The games that do exist are generally curiosities at best, and many of them have similar, more fleshed-out counterparts on the GC
5. Even if Dolphin can/could play Triforce games, how would you even get those games

The road ahead seems bumpy at best to me.

Well, there is the Triforce branch that does have some success in emulating Triforce games. Why can't that be rebased off of 5.0 (when it comes out) and merged? There isn't any documentation on the Triforce branch, since it seems to be before GitHub so I don't really know what is keeping them separated.
That Triforce branch is circa Dolphin 3.5 or 4.0 if I recall correctly. A lot has changed since then. You'd need to go through quite a bit of work to get it up to date (understatement, probably).
It won't tell me the shipping cost, just that they won't ship to the UK. Anyone going to share?
$500 USD
Ouch.

On Dolphin's hidden Triforce branch download page, (as far as I could tell, this was not linked anywhere except for on the Triforce section of the forum) the latest version number given is 4.0-315, form two months after 4.0.2 came out. I am guessing that means that it is based on 4.0? Maybe 4.0.2? It has download links for Windows (Both 32 and 64 bit), OSX, and Android, but no Ubuntu, which is odd. Anyway, the code is not anywhere, as far as I can tell. The Google Code page no longer exists and the Triforce branch is not hosted on GitHub, so I don't even know how it would be possible to start rebasing/merging Triforce to the Master branch. Where is the code anyway? Dolphin can't really call itself a "GameCube / Wii / Triforce Emulator" without Triforce support actually available.

While trying to figure this out, it occurred to me that the Dolphin wiki should have some pages on the development history of Dolphin, should I post a request for that on the bug tracker?
I don't disagree that we probably shouldn't advertise as a triforce emulator if we don't have the code for it available. Tongue

As for wiki pages, I dunno if the bug tracker is the best place to make that request or if the wiki has a page to request for things. If it goes on the bug tracker it'll probably be insta-marked low priority and forgotten about unless some extremely veteran dev gets very very bored.

I was also a bit concerned that distributing the Triforce code without providing the code might be a problem for the license. The last Triforce branch build was made before the re-license to GPLv2+, and I don't know if the re-license applies to the Triforce code. It is still based on Dolphin and so would fall under GPLv2, at least, which means that the source code needs to be provided or there is a problem. Does anyone know where the code is? I would be very interested in looking at the differences between that and the main Dolphin code and trying to fix it once 5.0 was released, painful as the process might be. It would be really great, in my opinion to get the Triforce code up to date and get it merged, because even if it is very incomplete, it would benefit slowly over time from regular updates to Dolphin, because it shares most of the same features as the GameCube. And if it is in the main code, it is far easier and more likely for a dev to make any Triforce specific additions.

(was there something wrong with the forum today? I tried to get on and the page wouldn't connect. Then I tried hours later and it said I was banned. I tried on another computer that had never been on my account and was not even on my home network and it said the same thing, and then I had a friend who had never been on the forum access the forum and it said the same thing. And now it is back. That was really strange.)
The forum problem was caused by an issue with our proxy telling the forum everybody had the same IP. Then one of the mods purged a spammer, unintentionally banning everybody. Tongue
