Well, when I add ssgi, it's like a 2fps boost. With just ssao enabled and maxed, I got an extra and extra 7-8 frames.
It seems that GTX 1070 is pretty much identical to GTX 1080

8GB VRAM vs 3.5GB + 0.5GB (GTX 970)...
Remember the 1070 has GDDR5 and the 1080 has GDDR5X. When you compare the memory bandwidth to past cards in a similar performance bracket (basically the 980 Ti and Titan X) it suggests that the 1070 might be severely bottlenecked by memory bandwidth in a lot of applications.
Memory Bandwidth won't be a problem as long as you stick with 1080p . I bet you could overclock GTX 1070 to have the same performance as GTX 1080 at 1080p
At 4k resolution , GTX 1070 will lag behind GTX 1080 though
I wonder how the 1070 will hold up with 2k 144fps.

Also pardon the extremely ignorant question, but when you SLI you basically double (minus optimisation losses) the memory bandwidth, right? Because if so, I'm going to be very seriously considering a pair of 1070s.

In that case why not just get a 1080? It has much higher memory bandwidth anyway.
Seems to me that 2*80% performance, or even 2*75%, still outperforms 100% performance by a very decent margin even accounting for the fact that multiple cards don't scale fully linearly.
Two R9 480X (code name Polaris) in crossfire could not beat GTX 1080
Thankfully, AMD are getting much better yields with Vega than they were expecting, so we only have to wait until (IIRC) October before we get something that can.

Two 960s cannot beat a 980 either, should I be impressed?
